Submitting new data
The IntCal working group is always pleased to consider new data
for inclusion in IntCal but there are a number of points to
consider.
- Data should be published in a peer-reviewed journal; which
journal is appropriate will depend on the nature of the dataset.
- It is important to understand the criteria for inclusion of
data in IntCal. These are laid out in particular in Reimer et al. 2013
but also in the latest publications
from the group.
- In the first instance you should contact the covener of the
relevant IntCal subgroup so that
they can advise you on the next steps. You can do this while
data is in the later stages of the publication process if you
like but inclusion will require a DOI.
- Check the IntCal subgroup
pages also for information on what is expected to be included in
the publication of the dataset.
Once data has been published it needs to be prepared for import into
the dataset. This can be done using the IntChron
tool, there are special instructions for
the preparation of data for inclusion in IntCal given at:
This allows the data to be checked by you and by the members of
the IntCal working group before it is incorporated into the
dataset for the next IntCal curve.
